The Civilian Trustees

The Air Training Corps is sponsored by the Ministry of Defence (RAF), the majority of its financial support being used for subsidising the major Corps activities such as flying, gliding, camps, training courses, etc.

At unit level however, the squadron is an independent economic entity and all activities of a local nature are financed out of squadron funds.

Every ATC squadron has UK charity status and all squadron funds are therefore administered, as a charity, in accordance with the UK Charity Commission rules and regulations.

The finances and funds of 2469 (Exeter St. Thomas) Squadron are all raised, controlled and accounted for by a Civilian Trustees Committee, which is composed entirely of civilian volunteers who have an interest in promoting and helping the youth of today and youth activities.

In addition to fund raising and accounting for the squadron finances the trustees are also responsible for the welfare of the cadets within the squadron, and for helping and supporting the uniformed staff with their duties.

The trustees arrange a great many fund raising events and various social activities for the squadron and the cadets, such as Barbecue's, Car-Boot Sales, the Squadron Annual Dinner and visits to Air Shows and Museums etc.

As well as general costs, the squadron also owns and maintains its own mini-bus,which always requires a great deal of finance and fund-raising.
